Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 9, 2026

This policy explains what information FindMyDirectDoctor Foundation collects on findmydirectdoctor.org and in the Foundation View of our directory, and how we use it.

What we collect

  • What you send us. If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, organization if you include one, and your message. If you request a report or document, we also receive your role and how you plan to use it.
  • How the site is used. We use Google Analytics to understand how people use our site. It tells us things like which pages are visited, roughly which city a visit comes from, and what kind of device and browser are used. It does not tell us who you are.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for medical information, and we ask you not to send any through our contact form. We do not collect payment information on this site.

How we use it

We use what you send us only to reply to you and to keep a record of our correspondence. We use analytics to improve our site and to report to our board and funders on how the directory is used, in totals that do not identify anyone.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We share it only with the services that help us run the site, such as our website host, our email provider, our form provider and Google Analytics, and only so they can provide those services. We may also share information if the law requires it.

When you search the directory

When you search from our site, your results open on findmydirectdoctor.com in the Foundation View. That site is run by FindMyDirectDoctor, LLC, which licenses the directory technology to us. You can search by zip code or by a medical condition. Please do not type your name or other personal details into the search box. As you type a specialty, condition or doctor, your letters are sent to findmydirectdoctor.com so it can suggest matches. Place suggestions come from a list stored on our own site, built from GeoNames data (geonames.org, shared under a Creative Commons license), so the place you type is not sent anywhere until you search. In the Foundation View, the only analytics that run are the Foundation's own. No advertising, affiliate or marketing tracking runs there, and the company may not use your visit to market to you. If you leave the Foundation View, for example by typing a different web address, the company's own privacy policy applies.

When you message a doctor

If you use the Message button on a doctor's profile, your name, contact details and message go to that practice through the directory system run by FindMyDirectDoctor, LLC. We may count that a message was sent, so we can report how many people the directory helps. The company may not use your message to market to you. Please do not include medical details you do not want the practice to see.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits. The directory does not use a cookie to keep you in the Foundation View. It does that through the web address of each page you visit. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.

Children

Our site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

You can ask us to see or delete the messages you sent us by writing to info@findmydirectdoctor.org. You can turn off Google Analytics tracking with Google's free browser add-on.

How we protect it

Our site uses HTTPS, which scrambles information as it travels between your browser and our site. We limit who can see contact messages to the people who need to answer them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
